It’s here! It’s here! Father Synthmas has been!

Zebra3 has been a long time coming but, I believe it has been worth the wait. A brand new synth, coded from scratch but, sharing much of the architectural and sonic DNA of Zebra2 and ZebraHZ (two of the greatest softsynths of all time).

I was fortunate enough to be invited to be part of the Zebra3 beta testing team and see Urs and his team bringing their labour of love together. I also was able to make 20 factory presets before I was hit by a shoulder injury.

Zebra3 keeps much of my favourite aspects of previous Zebras; the modular architecture, the stunning sound quality, those lovely comb filters and the highly adaptable multi-stage envelopes. The new version has seen a thorough overhaul of the oscillator section, modal resonators and exciter modules for more physical modelling options, loads of new filters and effects, plus over a thousand factory presets.

I’m looking forward to diving back into it and making new patches, as soon as my shoulder has healed.

Will Zebra3 be the best softsynth of all time? We shall see… I haven’t fallen out of love with ZebraHZ yet!
