FAQ

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for here, fire me an email.

DO YOUR SOUNDS EVER GO ON SALE?

Yes, I always have a Summer sale and a Christmas sale. I also sometimes do impromptu sales throughout the year (although these are rare).

All my soundsets are launched at a discounted price – as long as you’re a Newsletter subscriber, as you’ll need a discount code! The best way to hear about all sales and discounts is via my Newsletter, which you can sign up to here.

At The Unfinished, I’m committed to keeping emails to the minimum; no spam, just good offers and info. The mailing list is run by MailChimp and you can unsubscribe at any time.

If you need any more information about signing up for the mailing list, check out the Privacy Policy.

DO YOU DO EDUCATIONAL DISCOUNTS?

Unfortunately, I still do not. The extra administration required to maintain such a policy is, as yet, not desirable for a one-man-band operation.

HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO A BUNDLE OR DARK/DELUXE EDITION?

If you’ve bought a few soundsets for a particular synth and want to upgrade to the Bundle for that synth, simply fire me an email for an upgrade price?

You can also do this if you wish to upgrade from a regular version of a Zebra soundset to the Dark Edition, or if you wish to upgrade to the Deluxe edition of an Omnisphere soundset? And, of course, you can also upgrade from whatever your current collection of The Unfinished soundsets is to the Complete Bundle!

However, please note that Bundle upgrades are not available during sale periods.

I'VE BOUGHT THE WRONG PRODUCT. CAN I GET A REFUND?

In general, The Unfinished does not offer refunds except for in genuine circumstances. If you have, by mistake, bought a soundset for a synth you do not own or have bought a copy of a soundset you already own, I am happy to offer a refund.

Do check out the description of the products and their tech specs carefully before making a purchase.

WHEN WILL I GET MY SOUNDS?

Once you’ve gone through the purchasing process, it usually only takes a few minutes for FastSpring to deliver your products. The system is entirely automated and very rarely goes wrong. However, if after about 20 to 30 minutes you still have not received anything, contact me and I will re-send your download email.

But don’t forget to check your spam folder first!

And do note that download emails expire after seven days – so don’t be too slow in downloading them.

HOW DO INSTALL MY SOUNDS?

Each soundset comes with a Read Me PDF that details the installation process for the sounds on both PC and Mac. In general, the location of presets is decided by the installation process of the softsynth itself but, sometimes you may have chosen a different folder path for your presets folder – so bare that in mind.

It’s also often the case that most softsynths allow you to access the preset folder on yourPC/Mac via the preset browser in the synth’s GUI.

About 90% of support emails I receive about installation problems are from people who insist they have followed the instructions to the letter… but haven’t! So do read the PDF very carefully.

If after all that you’re still having problems with installation, then get in touch and I’ll do my best to sort everything out for you – sometimes it’s mine or the softsynth’s fault too!

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON USING YOUR SOUNDS?

In general, no. You can use my synth sounds in any music you wish to. You can use them as they are or you can tweak them to suit your musical needs.

However, you are only purchasing a license to use my sounds, so you do not own them. For example, you cannot sell my synth patches as if they were your own or sample them for a commercial sample library.

MY PC/MAC HAS CRASHED, HOW CAN I GET MY THE UNFINISHED SOUNDS AGAIN?

Unfortunately, at the moment, I do not run an account system for customers, so you cannot just log-in and re-download your soundsets if any problems arise.

Just send me an email, letting me know what you need re-sending (I can always check your purchase history for you, if you’re unsure) and I’ll get on with re-sending you download links to your purchases asap.

CAN I RE-SELL YOUR SOUNDSETS?

You cannot re-sell The Unfinished products.

I have in the past, under very exceptional circumstances, allowed it. So, if you think your circumstances ARE exceptional, you can email me. But please do not be offended if I do not agree to any resale.

Further information on this subject can be found in the Terms and Conditions on this website.

DO YOU CREATE BESPOKE SOUNDSETS FOR COMPOSERS AND MUSICIANS?

Yes, I do. Though I am generally pretty restricted as to how many I can fit into my schedule in any given year.

You can find out much more on my Bespoke page and also by downloading my Bespoke brochure.

Although I have worked on Hollywood films, globally successful TV series and AAA games, those are not my sole criteria for taking on bespoke work. My main goal is to work on projects I will enjoy, however large or small. I have also worked on album projects for artists such as Gary Barlow, Shy FX and Tina Guo.

Anything that may interest or excite me is of interest, so do not hesitate to get in touch!

HOW CAN I BECOME A DEMO COMPOSER FOR THE UNFINISHED?

At the moment I have a highly skilled team of regular demo composers who very kindly write terrific music showcasing my sounds. Having said that, there’s always a chance some of them will be unavailable for particular releases or will simply be too busy to write something for a while, so gaps do appear.

If you are interested in becoming a demo composer for The Unfinished you are welcome to send me some examples of your work that you think shows what you can bring to the table as a demo composer – writing in a style or even genre that isn’t normally covered (but is still relevant to my releases!) is always of interest.

Writing a “spec” demo track for one of my existing soundsets is always a good calling card – as is being an existing customer!

I’m especially keen for potential demo writers who are female or from minority ethnic and cultural backgrounds, to bring different musical voices to the roster.
