I thought I’d write a few words about Women’s Aid, the charity I’m supporting through my International Women’s Day Sale.
On average two women a week are killed by a partner or former partner in England and Wales. Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. Since 1974, they have been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic abuse, with survivors at the heart of their work. They are a federation of over 220 organisations who provide more than 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across the country.
They also run the 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 (in partnership with Refuge) and their range of online services, which include the Survivors’ Forum, help hundreds of thousands of women and children every year. They provide expert training, qualifications and consultancy to a range of agencies and professionals working with survivors or commissioning domestic abuse services. Their campaigns achieve change in policy, practice and awareness, encouraging healthy relationships and helping to build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.
By taking part in the International Women’s Day Sale and giving to Women’s Aid you are donating to a movement committed to eliminating domestic abuse and the culture in which it thrives. Their mission is to raise the status of women to a level where violence against them is no longer legitimised or tolerated.
I am really happy to be supporting their amazing work and thank you for helping me do so.
